Working Visits at Vairochana Centre

What is a working visit?

A working visit is when a person comes and stays at Vairochana Centre and volunteers 35 hours of work each week in exchange for meals and accomodation within the centre. Working visitors are welcome to attend any of the meditation courses and classes that we run for free. Working visits are an ideal way for people to get a taste of the Buddhist Way of Life, meet with like minded people, and try something different.

If you like getting out and about, want to try something new, need a meaningful break, or would like to experience life in a Buddhist Centre then this could be perfect for you!

Who can do working visits?

Anyone can do working visits as long as they have some enthusiasm and a wish to be involved in the various things we do within the centre.

How long are the visits?

Ideally we are looking for long term working visitors but we will also consider short term (1 week visits).

What jobs can I help with?

We are looking for working visitors to help us in various ways. One way is helping us to widely distribute our publicity around Manchester. Another way is for people to be involved in our new Dharma Centre project (beginning August 2007).

People with building skills i.e. plumbing, docorating, sewing, electrical, plastering etc. are especially useful. However, you do not have to have a skill to become a working visitor.

I'm interested, who should I contact?

Contact Kelsang Jigkyob at Vairochana Centre or fill out our Working Visits Application Form and return to us.

Thank you!
