Manchester Buddhist Courses 2010
As well as our one day Meditation Workshops we offer inspiring day courses and weekend courses that are an ideal opportunity for you to relax and deepen your experience of particular aspects of Buddhism & Buddhist Meditation. These courses are suitable for everyone regardless of background or experience. All our courses are held at Vairochana Centre within our meditation room.
"Living Dharma"
Saturday, 13 March, 10.00 am – 5.00 pm
While we can use meditation to provide moments of peace within our busy and stressful lives, what we really need is a way of transforming our daily lives. We need to identify and reduce the causes of stress, frustration and conflict in our lives. By learning to use Buddha's special meditations on dealing with difficult situations, we can make our lives more peaceful and controlled and improve our relationships with others.
This course will explore ways of guiding ourselves through life's difficulties. We will explain practical meditations for changing our outlook, finding new solutions and exploring our inner potential for a more rewarding experience of life.
"Pure Mind, Pure World"
Saturday, 19th June, 10.00 am – 5.00 pm
The way we experience our world depends upon the state of our mind. If our mind is negative and confused, this is reflected in the world we see. If our mind is happy and peaceful, so is our experience of life.
Buddha's tantric teachings are special methods for changing the way we see ourselves and our world. By purifying our mind, we begin to purify our daily life of negativity and relate more fully to our inner potential.
This course provides an introduction to the powerful methods of tantric meditation. It will help us to see beyond the ordinary limits of our experience and to develop a more joyful, loving and liberating view of ourselves and our world.
Living Meaningfully, Dying Joyfully
Saturday, 10th July, 10.00 am – 5.00 pm
We all have a deep fear of death but often we put off this fear until it is too late. Buddha's teachings on death and impermanence help us not only to deal with this fear but to turn it around to our benefit. We can learn to face up to dying in a gentle and controlled way, helping us to develop spiritually throughout our life, and reducing our fear. Importantly, we can gain confidence by understanding what actually happens during the process of dying.
The course will explain how to think about death in a balanced and realistic way. It will show how contemplating death in the correct way actually helps us to create a more meaningful and happy life. The course will give a background to special meditations we can do for ourselves and others as the time of death approaches.
